Simple Financial Planning Spreadsheet (For Dummies)

Financial planners are great - if you can afford them. They usually charge a few thousand dollars for a review of your finances and / or take fees when you invest in their recommendations.

We always recommend using one if you can, but for everyone else this spreadsheet helps you do 80% of what they do. We've personally used this spreadsheet for over 10 years and shared it with friends who were also starting out their journey to understand money.

With a few simple instructions you can plan your savings / investments / property and pension (superannuation, 401k etc). You can change return %, add school fees and forecast to any age in your life. It's all you need to do your own basic financial planning.

Sure, you still need to decide what to invest in, how much to save and what insurance to get... but with this spreadsheet you aren't missing out on financial planning, you are just doing the basics yourself.
